<i>Unity, Maine.</i> Beginning Friday Evening, the
<a href="http://maine.indymedia.org/">Maine Independent Media Center
(IMC-ME</a>) will offer unprecedented coverage of Jim Hightower's
<a href="http://www.nancho.net/newchau/">New Chautauqua</a> and the Maine
Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association’s (MOGFA) 25th Annual Common
Ground Fair in Unity, Maine. Through the use of a high speed internet
connection, the Maine Independent Media Center will offer visitors to the
<a href="http://maine.indymedia.org/">http://maine.indymedia.org</a>
website, the option of viewing two live Real Video streams broadcasted from the Unity Performing Arts Centers, site of the New Chautauqua, as well as archived coverage of speeches and presentations from both the New Chautauqua and the Common Ground Fair. Coverage will include speeches from Jim Hightower, Granny D, Richard Grossman, David Korten, Carolyn Chute, Reverend Billy, Vandana Shiva, and Ronnie Dugger; performances by the Raging Grannies and Ethan Miller; and workshops on Alternative Media and Direct Action. <br>

The Maine Independent Media Center is a non profit, democratic collective of independent media makers and journalists founded in April 2001 offering grassroots, non! -corporate news coverage and media education for the state of Maine. We hope to demystify media through media literacy education and by fostering the skills and providing the equipment necessary for individuals, communities, and organizations across Maine without regard to race, gender, class, sexual orientation, location, physical or mental disability, or politics to create and publish their own video, audio and print stories in formats including the an web-based news site, community radio, public access television, and a monthly print publication. The Maine Independent Media Center provides an interactive website at maine.indymedia.org, through which up-to-the-minute information can be posted by anyone and made available throughout the world.
