<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif";color:black">The 6<sup>th</sup> Annual Cans Across the Quad will take place Monday, September 30, 2013 from 12-5pm on University of Illinois Quad, 1401 W. Green St. in Urbana.
The campus community is collecting canned food donations for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. Individuals and organizations are asked to contribute canned food products toward the goal of collecting 5,000 cans. Donors are encouraged to bring cans to Anniversary
Plaza on the Illinois main Quad from 12-5pm (just south of the Illini Union). Large donations may be delivered to the Illini Union Circle Drive on Green Street, where volunteers will help to unload. Cans will be counted beginning at 5pm and total number of
cans collected will be announced at 6pm. Registered Students Organizations (RSO) have issued challenges to each other to see who can collect the most cans (15oz or larger). Challenge winners will be announced at approximately 5:30pm.

Hunger Action Month. OVP encourages supporters to wear orange for Hunger Action on Monday, September 30<sup>th</sup>. Cans Across the Quad is sponsored by the Illini Union Office of Volunteer Programs (OVP) to educate the Illinois campus and C-U community
about local hunger issues. Following on the heels of the SNAP Hunger Challenge, an educational activity where participants attempt to live on $5.00 per day, Cans Across the Quad is one of several programs that encourages area residents to take action by donating
canned food for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank (EIF). <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif";color:black">Canned food donations must

nutritional value per serving. Food provided to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank (EIF) is distributed to those in need through a network of more than 220 agencies and programs, including faith-based organizations, schools, food pantries and soup kitchens – across
14 counties, including Champaign County. The programs receiving EIF distributions serve more than 100,000 people annually. One in three of the clients served by EIF agencies is a child. Canned food drives such as Cans Across the Quad are key sources of food
and funding for efforts to alleviate area hunger.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
