Subject: [IMC] 1st Annual "Quad Day" for the Arts Information and
Application
To:

Dear current leaders of arts-focused RSOs,

With over 800 RSOs (and counting) at the U of I, you have undoubtedly
noticed that Quad Day, while wonderful and extremely useful for publicity,
is also very hectic. Most people come away from it and either couldn't find
some of the things they were interested in or else just put their names down
on every email list that they encountered. On top of this, there is the
challenge of correctly categorizing your club for Quad Day, especially for
groups that are versatile enough to fit into two or more categories. To
help alleviate these issues and help your club become better known on
campus, I want to invite you to participate int he first annual "Quad Day"
for the arts, to be called A Taste of the Arts, hosted by the Krannert
Center Student Association. This event is not intended as a replacement for
Quad Day, but rather is meant as a chance for those interested in the arts
to learn more about opportunities in Champaign-Urbana.

Essentially, the idea is this: The weekend after Quad Day, from noon to 4 on
Sunday August 29th, all of you are invited to set up your displays once
more, this time on the terraces of Krannert Center, located at 500 S.
Goodwin Avenue in Urbana (if it rains, we have space reserved inside as
well). The event will be highly publicized, utilizing the talents of the
graphic designers employed by Krannert, and the posters will be among the
first things new students will see around campus and in their dorms. Aside
from posters, we also plan to chalk the quad and are working on securing
advertisements in other venues, such as the Daily Illini. We will have
tents down on the sidewalk on the day of the event to help direct people to
the right place. The cost to you for all of this? Absolutely nothing.
Your only obligation is to turn in an application form (attached).
Applications will be accepted until all of the available space is filled or
until July 15, whichever occurs first. We are hoping to provide tables to
all of the participating groups, but this may be subject to change if we do
not have enough tables.

If your group is interested in having a special display or performance time,
please include a short description of this on the application and inform us
of the amount of time, space, and special equipment (i.e. sound system or
microphones) required so that we can schedule these appropriately.

Thanks in advance for helping to make this event a success in its first
year!

Carolyn Roloff
