Just a quick reminder relating to unemployment benefits and AmeriCorps
members.

*Unemployment Benefits*

AmeriCorps members are
*not entitled *
to unemployment benefits. The Corporation for National

and Community Service has interpreted federal legislation to mean that there
is no employer/employee

relationship between members and programs. Illinois has chosen to agree with
this

interpretation and denies unemployment benefits to members; hence, programs
are not required

to pay unemployment taxes.
