I didn't reply yet but I found this to be a very intriguing inquiry. Anyone
want to write back and maybe invite them to open hours sometime?

Subject: Question of Citizenship and Makerspace
To: makerspaceu at gmail.com

To whom it may concern,
Hello my name is Maggie Johnson and I am a student at the University of
Illinois. I am taking a course on citizenship and I have to write a final
paper on an organization in the area that applies to citizenship. I have
decided to write about Makerspace mainly because it seems that this
organization is making a statement that people should be more self
efficient and kind of steer away from consumer based society. With the
resources Makerspace has to offer, it could mean that this organization is
teaching people that anyone and everyone has a right to knowing how to make
their own products and encourage the community to come together and find
ways to express their voice within at least the city of Urbana. I just
wanted to see if you feel the same or if there is anything different that
you feel Makerspace has to offer as far as creating disruptive citizenship
in a world where the market is the dominant force in our lives. Thank you
 --Maggie Johnson
