Hey Everyone,

Here is an interesting opportunity to work with the UIUC National Society
of Black Engineers group. For background, Christine was an intern at my old
job who stopped my the space at least once and really liked it. I'm
inclined to say yes we're interested. Thoughts?

Thanks
  Jeff

Hey Jeff,

I am working this year as the National Society of Black Engineers
Community Service Chair, and we are looking at putting on an event titled
“"When I Grow Up I Want to be an Engineer." When I thought about this
event, instantly thought of Maker Space and the things you all do with kids
like the soldering robot project and thought you all would be someone great
to partner with!

The purpose of this service event is to provide an elementary explanation
to children on what it means to be an engineer, and the impact those who
dominate the STEM field make on a daily basis. The event’s goals will be
accomplished through thought provoking discussions, as well as carrying out
experiments that will introduce children to scientific and engineering
concepts, while sparking their curiosity, and manifesting the mentality
that science can be fun!

Let me know if this is something the organization would be interested in.

Thanks,

Christine S. Davis
