This was sent to the old UCMakerFaire gmail account (probably because
the Illinois
Geometry Lab participated last year) but I figured I would pass it along in
case anyone is interested or want to help promote it!

Dear Sir or Madam,

I'm writing to let you know about the Mosaic Festival, which my department
will be hosting Friday-Saturday November 21-22. This is a celebration of
Math, STEM, and Art, and it includes activities designed for 6-12th graders.

Our web page about the festival is at

        http://www.math.illinois.edu/MOSAIC/

        which includes a schedule at

        http://www.math.illinois.edu/MOSAIC/MoSAIC-at-Illinois-Schedule.pdf

and a poster you can print at

        http://www.math.illinois.edu/MOSAIC/mosaic-poster.pdf

Let Tori Corkery (CC'd above) know if we can provide you with posters.

There will be workshops all day Saturday. The web page lists exciting
visitors who will lead workshops on Saturday (Reza Sarhangi, Bob Bosch, Eve
Torrence, Judy Holdener come to us from the national Mosaic organization.
The other three have recent U of I affiliations, including high school
student Jessica Li who did a project with the Illinois Geometry Lab).

The festival will also show two movies on Friday morning, so between 10am
and 12pm there is an opportunity for field trips. Please contact Jane
Bergman (CC'd above) if assistance with funding for transportation will
make it easier to participate.

There is a welcome reception on Friday evening including short talks by our
visitors, and I would be delighted if you can join us for that too. If you
have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me or Jayadev Athreya (our
local Mosaic organizer, CC'd above).

Regards,

Matthew Ando
Professor and Chair
Department of Mathematics
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
