Dear Key Members,

Attached please find a draft of a counter proposal for a design commons
building on the University of Illinois campus.

The university recently received a gift of $25 million to build a design
center on campus.  More information is available here
http://provost.illinois.edu/designcenter.html.  When I attended the town
hall meetings on the new building it became clear that the administration
has not worked to create an inclusive center that would support creating
and making by all students.

Several colleagues and I have worked on the attached document and I think
it would be great if we signed on.
