*Madison Maxey*: *January 31, 2016 – February 4, 2016*

*Madison Maxey *is a creative technologist and 2013 recipient of a Thiel
Fellowship, which is open to applicants under 23 years old who do not have
a degree and agree to not be enrolled in college during the program.
Fellows receive a grant of $100,000 to focus on their work, their research,
and their self-education while outside of college. Her contributions to
wearable technology have been featured in *Wired*, *FastCompany* and *New
York Magazine*, and she has provided wearable tech insights to both the
White House and Google. Currently she is an entrepreneur in residence at
General Assembly and is on the board of the Urban Assembly Maker Academy, a
school focused on fabrications and design thinking. Maxey is dedicated to
fabricating the future at The Crated, a research and design house and
product innovation studio for soft circuits, responsive garments and second
generation wearable technologies.
