Happy Assassination Day!

Yes, I know, it's the Ides of March,
and my greeting card is all but late!
but, the calendar on my wall is silent,
it doesn't want talk about the topic,
of killing lead enemies, personally, 
politically, in a cheap shot at power.
 
Our nation joyfully endorses it:
"Go hunt down Bin Laden and such;"
"Decapitate the regime of Iraq."
"If we will take the leaders out,
we will win each and every war
and that brings us greater power."
 
What is taught as foreign policy
comes back to American shores.
Deaths of Lincoln,  JFK and RFK?
Deaths of King, and many more?
 
There's always an idiot in hiding,
waiting for his moment of victory,
especially for the glorious cause,
the one that absolves him of killing,
and grants him a place in paradise.
 
I don't work for glorious causes,
for just that reason: I am dust,
wetted into mud, blown in time --
I dance in winds of the wallow:
that is the ancient Rule of Law,
to reason on the way of things,
rather than only bashing heads,
to try to get Man to be proud,
of his mortal muddy dusty days.
