Good stuff and good points. I think it is starting to stabilize, isn't it?

ya'aQov and group,

Good suggestion ya'aQov. But what exactly do you mean by "media"? A group dedicated to dealing with media as press contacts? A group dedicated to the creation and coordination of occupy media (youtube certainly could be more heavily utilized)? A group thinking creatively about t-shirts, art workshops, posters, and messaging for various audiences?

FYI: last October when occupycu.org<http://occupycu.org> was more central to the organizers, we had a rather active media group. Much of our previous discussion and debate is still on that forum (link below). Activists will also find flyers, outreach ideas, some unhatched ideas, proposed letters to the editor, etc.

I mention this in the interest of trying to establish some movement momentum as we enter spring. Facebook and the email list are fair tools, but it sometimes appears to be people throwing whatever they like against the wall to see what sticks. This is good, but we might suffer from over-abundance of information on a general platform. The advantage of a forum structure is how it prompts subdivision of labor and the cultivation of small group task forces.

I get the sense that, as people drop in and out of the movement, each monthly generation of activists are reinventing the wheel and making too little use of previous work. The forums can act as a collective memory, uniting the activists that were with those that are keeping the fire alive today.

Regardless, those interested in a media committee might find the forums instructive. There is also "Direct Action Committee" forum and an "Outreach Committee" forum, etc.

Happenstance, we were suggesting having perhaps a Media Committee.

I'd be fine with listing my e-mail address (stuartnlevy at gmail.com<mailto:stuartnlevy at gmail.com>)... but, maybe better, we could make a "contact" address for the group, if anyone would like to run it. We could set it up as another IMC list, or a google/yahoo group, with a handful of members -- people who were willing to take whatever the public tossed at us, respond to routine queries, and pass it along to the whole of OccupyCU if interesting or otherwise non-routine.
(AWARE has such a list -- aware at anti-war.net<mailto:aware at anti-war.net> -- with I think three or four people watching it.)

Does this seem like a good idea for us? If so, what would be a good name ("occupycu-contact?")? And who would like to be on the list if so? I'd be willing.

Michael W, you may have some notes/ideas from the Outreach when we discussed the idea of a card.

How do people get linked into the email list? Also what's our phone number. I'm thinking about making up cards to hand out to people that we meet at our street corner protest that ask how they can find us again. I figured I'd add the occupy forum, facebook page, e-mail & phone number info. Any other suggestions are welcome!
