You are right about this one Rachel.  I have been sitting in on County Board meetings of late for other reasons, and have listened to the public comment on this issue.  There has been a lot of public comment in favor of this council being formed. Then, when the public commenter's leave, after public comment is over, and much later in the meeting, the board votes against it when there is no one around.  I have learned you have to stay and watch them, and know how they vote on things.  They  notice when people are watching and who is watching.  This is a new issue which I am not familiar with yet, but a worthy one for us to watch.  We should be paying attention to it as well as all of our other issues....oh dear, where does it end!   I am getting depressed.  No, that is not exactly right...I have been depressed for quite some time now...See ya and thanks for all you have been doing.  Sandra

Occupy--

This is an issues Occupy should be all over in our community because it helps promote local, sustainable growth and business over big corporations and bad food policies. Please attend the County Board Meeting this Tuesday night, tomorrow 7pm and make public comment!

FINAL FOOD POLICY COUNCIL VOTE!

Food Policy Council Proposal Needs Your Support

About a month ago we sent you an Action Alert about the proposal for a Champaign County food policy council. Why are we emailing you again? Because the proposal has moved from the Committee of the Whole to the County Board for the fin al vote.

A significant portion of our County Board members do not support the food policy council and the economic and local foods development it entails. For the food policy council proposal to pass, we need to speak out in mass at the next County Board meeting. If you went to the last meeting or submitted a comment, you should do so again. If you didn't, consider doing so this time - this will be the final vote, and we need to show our County Board how much Champaign County wants a food policy council.

The County Board meeting is Thursday, March 22nd at 7pm . You can read the food policy council proposal here . Information about the board meeting and how to participate can be found in the sidebar on the right.

The County Board needs to hear your support in order to form the food policy council... Make sure your voice is heard!

	TAKE ACTION!
Here are three ways to make sure your opinion is heard:

1. Attend the meeting. The County Board meets on Thursday, March 22 at 7pm at the Brookens Administrative Center . Arrive a bit early so you can fill out the form you will need to make a statement (available by the door). Give your completed form to the Board chair, Pius Wiebel. After some opening procedures, you will be called to the podium to speak in the order in which you submitted your form.

2. Submit a written statement. If you can't or would prefer not to attend the meeting, you can email your statement to County Board member Pattsi Petrie at pattsi2 at gmail.com . You will need to email her no later than March 20 for your comment to be available for the Board meeting.

3. Talk to your county representative. You can find your county representative and his or her contact information here .

Please email County Board member Pattsi Petrie with any questions.
