[OccupyCU] electoral wins

Well, Perhaps one way to address the concerns raised by Carl is to have a rally sometime soon that focuses on three issues: 1) the administration's terrorist "war on terror"; 2) protecting social security, medicare and other social programs; 3) global warming. 


I know that nationally JWJ and other progressive groups are talking about organizing local events that address concerns about Obama and the Dems making cuts to SS and medicare. But as we all know cuts to social programs are connected (negatively) to how much is spent on the military and defense. At the risk of "watering down" our message, adding global warming seems imperative at this point (and the public just might be a bit more receptive in the wake of Hurricane Sandy). Besides the extent of federal monies available for research and development in the area of sustainability are also squeezed the more we spend on warfare. 


I think we might be able to bring together several progressive groups in town on such an agenda. 


Finally, at least for the foreseeable future I will not be attending Occupy meetings. I am putting most of my energy into JWJ and my teaching. But I would try and help organize such an event through JWJ and whatever other forums/people I have contact with.
