Robert,

Have you heard all the news around Walmart the past few days?

It's not the usual story we're used to seeing. After Walmart workers walked off the job and went on strike last week in California, others from around the country followed their lead. Dozens of Associates walked out of 28 stores earlier this week across 12 states, for the first time in company history! SLAP students from coast to coast where standing with them, leading flash mobs, mic-checks, and delivering letters of support for Associates to store managers.

You can check out the SLAP Facebook page for photos of SLAP chapters leading these store actions as they happened!

Then on the heels of these actions, 100 Associates traveled to Walmart’s corporate headquarters to call on Walmart to stop trying to silence and retaliate against workers for speaking out for job improvements. Joined by national leaders from civil rights, immigrant rights and women’s rights communities, religious institutions, unions and community leaders, the group announced that their organizations were committed to “reclaiming” Black Friday for Walmart workers and their communities.

If your campus wants to get involved in the campaign as we continue to gain momentum with amazing coverage we've gotten (from places like the New York Times , Good Morning America , and Salon ), be sure to let us know! We know we've got a busy fall ahead of us as we continue to fight for workers across the country, and we need you to be a part of it. Go here to sign up to get involved in the campaign!

In solidarity,

Chris Hicks
