This is an urgent plea:  On next Monday eve, Dec 16 at the Decatur
Civic Center, a public hearing will be held to let the Illinois Dept
of Natural Resources know how people feel about the rules governing
fracking.  Companies are already coming into Macon County to persuade
land owners to allow shallow fracking on their property.  Once this
happens, there will be no control over land use if a significant
number of people sign, even by those who may not agree.  Fracking is
not the harmless practice that oil companies want everyone to believe.
 It will only provide short term employment and has the strong
potential to affect the amount and safety of water.  It takes an
enormous amount of water to carry out.  The hearing is scheduled to
begin at 6:30pm but we're urging you to come early to fill the seats
with those who are opposed to lenient rules. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT
TO ATTEND AND BRING OTHERS.  THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE.
