Where are our Democratic Leaders in Congress?
Dear Germaine,
We're Calling on Congress to Protect Food Stamp Funding.  Please join us for 30 minutes or so on Monday!

What:        Emergency Action at Sen. Dick Durbin's office

When:       Monday, June 17 - 12:00 - 12:30

Where:      Office of Sen. Dick Durbin -525 So. 8th Street - Springfield    RSVP, Map, and directions here.

Shockingly, the House Agriculture Committee passed a bill to slash funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (aka Food Stamps) by more than $20 Billion. The House Vote on this bill may take place as early as Monday or Tuesday!
We have scheduled Emergency Actions Monday June 17, in home districts to sound the alarm to several members of ourDemocratic Party Leadership, namely:
	* In California - Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, and Rep. Henry Waxman
	* In Illinois - Sen. Dick Durbin
	* In Florida - Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz,
	* In Maryland - Rep. Steny Hoyer, and
	* In Massachusetts - Rep. Richard Neal

This is an urgent matter, so we are sending this far and wide. Please sign the action alert here!
We'll bring signs, saying things like: "Restore SNAP, Feed the Hungry" "Fund Food Not Bombs," "Feed the Humgry", "Reduce Hunger, Not Food Stamps", and "Support Rep. McGovern". We will tellSen. Durbin to defeat any Farm Bill that increases hunger for Americans in need.
Here are the facts: 50 Million Americans--including retirees, working families, veterans, and 7 million children--rely on nutritional support (SNAP). Aid averages about $1.50 per person per meal. The House Farm Bill would cut $20.5 billion from Food Stamps (aka SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).

Please read the speechat Rep. Jim McGovern's congressional websitehere.
And please let us know you are coming by RSVP'ing at this link.
In solidarity,
Deb Schrishuhn for PDA
