[I think somebody was asking about highway banners recently (OK,
semi-recently, I'm behind in my mail.]

 1. Make banners approximately 6 feet tall.
2. The banners in the pictures are 6 feet by 18 feet.
3. Attach about 9 grapefruit sized water balloons to the bottom edge of
banner. This is necessary!!! Otherwise your banner will fold over on
itself because of the wind generated by cars and trucks.
4. To attach, use heavy nylon string.
5. Twist the corners of the sheet/banner and tie a solid overhand knot.
6. Tie the string behind the knot with a slip knot, taught-line hitch,
etc...
7. Pull on your knots and make sure they will hold...
8. Tie a good loop a couple inches down the string.
9. Use nylon zip ties to quickly attach the banner to the overpass
girders. Dont spend precious time trying to tie knots...
10. Attach the top of the banner to the bridge girders/safety fence
backwards and upside down on the inside of the bridge. Then after the
banner is securely fastened flip it over the guardrail so that it is
viewable to people below.
11. Try to position banners over the central median or over the
shoulder. (this is to minimize the risk of dropping the banner into
traffic)
12. Get pictures of your accomplishments and submit them to the necessary
people.
