Over a period of a few-to-several decades, nuclear energy from advanced power reactors (Integrated Fast Reactors) for the production of electricity could supplant a good portion of the world's energy needs minimizing environmental harm and obviating nuclear weapon proliferation. That is a direction the Chinese (and others—India and Russia, for example) are considering, and should be considered by the USA. It will require considerable and sustained development, but most knowledgeable people believe it can be achieved. There is plenty of U238 (now considered as waste) and Th232 available to last well over a hundred years.</b></p></div>
