MoveOn has supported every mendacious attempt by the Democrats to
support the war policy since they were founded a generation ago. <br>
<br>
The Democrat "progressives" have done everything wrong - the war,
the bailouts, the recession, and health care - and not by accident,
but because they are a business party too, serving in the first
place the interests of the American economic elite.<br>
<br>
The only thing the Democrats have going for them now is the Tea
Party. They think if they can scare people enough with that, they
can maintain their <br>
quisling government. <br>
<br>
Glenn Greenwald put it well on Democracy Now! on Tuesday:<br>
<br>
"...if you ... just turned on television news and watched, you would
think that <br>
Christine O’Donnell was by far the most powerful person in the
world, because, <br>
especially on stations devoted to maintaining Democratic power, like
MSNBC and <br>
other cable shows, it’s twenty-four hours nonstop about Christine
O’Donnell, <br>
because that way ... you don’t have to talk about ... what we’re
doing in <br>
Afghanistan and Pakistan, the continuation of Bush-Cheney terrorism
policies. <br>
You get to talk about Christine O’Donnell and comments she made
fifteen years <br>
ago on some late night television show as a way of mocking her and
deriding her <br>
and distracting people’s attention from what a failure this
administration has <br>
been. That’s why she serves such an important role.<i> It’s a way of
manipulating <br>
and distracting the voting base" </i>[emphasis added].<br>
<br>
The only thing to do is to defeat the Democrat accommodationists and
demand real reforms of the next Congress and president. It's worked
before (1953, e.g.). <br>

<p style="margin: 1em 0px;">
Hosting is simple and straightforward—but
the calls and community-building at these
parties make a real difference. Last
election, over 56,000 individual MoveOn
members came to call parties that helped win
it for Obama, and folks overwhelmingly
reported that the calls to other MoveOn
members were powerful, fun, and gratifying. </p>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px;">
This time, we're planning to make over
500,000 calls to help recruit volunteers for
candidates in tight races—including
progressive heroes like <span
class="Apple-style-span"
style="background-color: rgb(255, 255,

Grayson, Tom Perriello,</span><span
class="Apple-style-span"
style="background-color: rgb(255, 255,

MoveOn members
in these key campaign areas, we'll help make
sure our candidates have the grassroots army
they'll need to get out the vote.</p>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px;">
And this particular weekend is really
special. On October 2nd, hundreds of
thousands of progressives will gather in
Washington,
D.C. for the massive "One Nation"
rally—calling for bold action to create jobs
and get America moving again.
On the same weekend, thousands more of us
will take action locally, including these
Stop the Takeover call parties. </p>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px;">
<span class="yiv1426993849Apple-style-span"
style="font-size: 13.2px;">As a party
host, you'll be enabling other folks in
Champaign to get
involved in the campaign. Here's what to
expect:</span></p>
<ul>
<li>
<span
class="yiv1426993849Apple-style-span"
style="font-size: 13.2px;">You'll invite
friends and family—and we'll invite
nearby
MoveOn members, if you'd like, to help
fill up your party.</span>
</li>
<li>
<span
class="yiv1426993849Apple-style-span"
style="font-size: 13.2px;">We'll ask
everyone to bring their cell phone and a
delicious dessert
to share. (Saving democracy can be
tasty, too.) </span>
</li>
<li>
<span
class="yiv1426993849Apple-style-span"
style="font-size: 13.2px;">We'll provide
step-by-step materials to walk you
through the event,
including scripts and lists of names and
numbers. We'll even have live volunteer
support in case you have any questions
during
the party.</span>
</li>
</ul>
<p style="margin: 1em 0px;">

<p style="margin: 1em 0px;">
<span class="yiv1426993849Apple-style-span"
