<p>Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says execution is the appropriate
punishment for the leaker who provided thousands of State Department
documents to the website WikiLeaks. <br>

“Whoever in our government leaked that information is guilty of
treason, and I think anything less than execution is too kind a
penalty,” Huckabee, a likely presidential candidate, <a target="_blank"
href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRxBdnnNDwg&feature=player_embedded">told
reporters</a> Monday during a stop at The Ronald Reagan Presidential
Foundation & Library to sign copies of his new children’s book,
“Can’t Wait Till Christmas!” <br>

“They’ve put American lives at risk,” Huckabee said. “They put
relationships that will take decades to rebuild at risk. They knew full
well that they were handling sensitive documents, they were entrusted.
And anyone who had access to that level of information was not only a
person who understood what their rules were, but they also signed under
oath a commitment that they would not violate. They did. … Any lives
they endangered, they’re personally responsible for and the blood is on
their hands.” <br>

Huckabee also took aim at The New York Times, the only American outlet
to receive the leaks in advance, for publishing information from the
cables. <br>
<br>
“The New York Times has shown an utter reckless disregard for any
responsible journalism by printing something that they know that they
obtained in a way that is not appropriate,” he said.</p>
