<p>We both know the sad truth: in the past few years, the Wall Street banks that caused our country's financial meltdown have been given a free pass, even as millions of Americans have lost their homes, their jobs, and their savings.</p>
<p>And those to blame for the crisis have never been brought to justice.</p>
<p>Right now, a group of state attorneys general is negotiating with the banks about what kind of justice they'll face for their role in the mortgage crisis.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, rather than holding them accountable, some politicians still want to let Wall Street off the hook. Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner are pushing for a nice, big gift to the banks: <strong>immunity from prosecution for potentially defrauding homeowners and investors, and pennies on the dollar back to us for their crimes.</strong></p>
<p>It's a horrible deal.</p>
<p>Fortunately, some states' attorneys general, like New York's Eric Schneiderman, are starting to stand up against it and flatly rejecting this scam. But we need more of them to unite -- and we need you to ask your state's attorney general to stand up to the pressure, too.</p>
