We've often been able to defeat them.<div><br></div><div>As Karen(1) explained at the meeting tonight, clever people in AWARE have over the years managed to subvert the pro-war messages - notably with the "military objectors" float.</div><div><br></div><div>"<i>United We Stand, Proudly We Serve" </i>is clearly another pro-war theme, linking military, militarized police forces, and firefighters. (Funny they don't mention mercs.)<div><br></div><div>As Obama continues surreptitiously to widen the war with his global assassination program and his private JSOC army (whose commander told Congress that he looks forward to 20 more years of war), we need a way to talk about his war under this rubric. The 4th of July is coming, and AWARE needs to decide whether we'll
have an entry in this year's parade.<br>

They're thinking of police and firefighters. <b> What can we do
with this?</b><b> </b>Conscientious objectors? Unionized
teachers? Workers for peace?<br>

Good news, remembering last year's awful heat: they have shifted the
parade *two hours earlier*, to start around 11AM.<br>
<br>
Today's AWARE meeting starts as usual around 5pm at the White Horse
bar on John St near 6th. (I'll be there but may be late.) Hope we
can talk about this there, or via e-mail any time over this week.<br>
