<p style="text-align: left; vertical-align: top;"><span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); line-height: 1.5em; font-family: Georgia,serif; font-size: 12px;">Last spring both sides of the aisle came together to draft one of the most protective hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") laws in the country. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is developing rules to implement this law. But over the holiday weekend, state legislators introduced a bill that guts the law's essential public health and environmental protections. <strong>With the legislature adjourning this week, lawmakers are trying to jam Senate Bill 649 through at the last minute with no public input.</strong> This bill will silence the voices of more than 30,000 Illinoisans who submitted comments to the IDNR during their public comment process.</span></p>
