</i><i>We need data.</i> <br>
<br>
We <b>are</b> <u><i><b>data-driven.</b></i></u><br>
<br>
Let's make sure that the data is in a standard format with
cross-platform readability.<br>
<br>
How about *.csv files? Let's spell it out.<br>
<br>
Write to Durbin and tell him that you demand that all data on<br>
civilian deaths and injuries from US Airstrikes be published on <br>
the web in downloadable Comma Separated Values (*.csv) format.<br>
<br>
A separate ICD-9 code should be used for each injury.<br>
<br>
Left and right limb and leg injuries should be recorded separately<br>
along with the anatomical location of the amputation sites.<br>
Distal and proximal are no longer acceptable. Coders must supply<br>
the distance from the amputation site to the proximal joint. This<br>
also applies to lost fingers, but loss of toes or a portion of the
foot<br>
may be estimated in percent of the foot remaining. Total loss of a
foot or feet<br>
by infants can be summarized in simple format but the ICD-9 code
should<br>
be applied.<br>
<br>
Injuries should also be classified by cause where possible. Loss of
a limb<br>
by scalding should be separated categorically from limbs lost
because of <br>
entrapment under debris necessitating removal. It is no longer
necessary<br>
to state whether the entrapped limb was chopped off or sawed away.<br>
<br>
All photographs should be submitted in .jpg format. Note that the
agency<br>
no longer accepts graphics in .gif or .cng format. The .tif format
is acceptable<br>
in special cases where detailed representation of lesions is
appropriate.<br>
<br>
As always, loss of military personnel is tallied as hostile,
friendly, and "not sure"<br>
according to Army cannon fodder guidelines.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
