The U.S. Senate is voting today on a bill that would pave the way for the dangerous Keystone XL tar sands pipeline,

and the outcome could be decided by a single vote.<sup>1</sup> <b>Can you take a moment to call Senator Dick Durbin at </b><b>(202)

224-2152 and tell him to vote against the Keystone XL pipeline now?

As of this moment, 59 senators have said they will vote yes to approve the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, but it cannot

pass without a 60th vote. With enough grassroots pressure, we'll stop this attempt to fast-track this dangerous pipeline.

This isn't the first time oil-industry-influenced senators have tried to push the Keystone XL pipeline through Congress.

It's been voted on before—and lost. To pass this time, some senators who have voted previously against the Keystone

XL pipeline would need to flip.</p>

Despite being opposed to the pipeline in the past, Sen. Durbin is the only senator who has yet to say today which way he'll

vote tonight.<sup>2</sup> With the vote coming up in just a few hours, it's important that his office hear from you right

away.</p>

The Keystone XL pipeline is currently under review by the State Department, and its impacts on communities along the proposed

route and our climate have made it a flashpoint for climate activism across the country. This Senate vote is a cynical attempt

to bypass the official process. Hundreds of thousands of people across the country have taken action to stop this pipeline—but

every single Republican senator still wants to see it built.<sup>3</sup> Together, for the health of our communities and

our climate, we must take action.
