Patch Adams will be in-residence at Unit One/Allen Hall 2/17-2/20. He will be
speaking every night about humor, love, community, living a life of joy, social
change, passion and persistence, following your dreams, and Gesundheit – a
revolutionary medical project. Every night is different! All programs are open
to the public and take place in the main lounge of Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory,

Patch Adams is a medical doctor who believes that healing should be a “loving
human interchange, not a business.” After conducting a small free hospital out
of his home for several years, Patch has devoted the last 30 years of his life
to building a large-scale free hospital in rural West Virginia. He lectures
internationally on topics of humor and health, community, intimacy, and various
aspects of the health care system. Patch is also trained as a clown and
organizes yearly “clowning trips” to Russian orphanages and hospitals. A movie
about Patch’s life stars Robin Williams.
