[Peace] Think like a staffer about DC strategy on protecting the human rights of Palestinian civilians

Suppose that there are two cars stuck in the snow, and you want to help get
the two cars out of the snow. One car has a bunch of people trying to push
it out. The other car has no people trying to push it out except its
driver. What’s the morally righteous way to proceed?

One way to think about the situation might be: the first car already has a
bunch of people trying to push it out, so that’s taken care of. I should go
try to help the poor guy who’s trying to push his car out of the snow by
himself, because he has no people helping him.

Here’s how a Congressional staffer might think about the problem. First
join the crowd trying to push out the first car, and make sure that car
gets out of the snow, thereby proving that you can get at least one car out
of the snow. When the crowd succeeds in getting the first car out of the
snow, they’re going to feel like a million bucks, like they rule the world,
like they can accomplish anything they want. Recruit those people to go get
the second car out of the snow.
