<div class="gmail_quote">Greetings,<br><br>This Saturday, April 24, we're holding the first session in a 10-week program called "Letters to the President."<br>It is a project being headed by Profs. Ruby Mendenhall and Ray Muhammad.<br>
Classes will be held from 1-4 pm at the Boys and Girls Club.<br><br>We will be asking students, ages 15-19, to write letters to local, state, federal officials, and finally President Obama that will be compiled into a final book project.<br>
The letters will be addressing issues of police and youth violence.<br>There will be cultural presentations, writing sessions, and food provided.<br>Our hope is that this will prepare local youth for a college career.<br>
