AWARE on the Air at its regular time last night (Tuesdays @
10pm ch. 6) had audio problems. It wasn't understandable - not, as
usual, because it discussed US wars outside the limits of allowable
debate - but because the audio transmission was garbled.

One viewer called to say that we sounded "chipmunky." (Ron - Alvin
called: he wants his shtick back.)

But the excellent people at Urbana Public Television are on the
case, and you can hear the entire program for the first week of
2011 at 11pm tonight on cable channel 6.

Ron Szoke will discuss "Same Old, Same Old"; a preliminary calendar
of protest for the new year will be presented (see below); and yr.
obdt. servt. will describe how to break the Israel-Palestine
deadlock. (Guess who's the most and least responsible actor?)
The People Speak: A Live Performance. It's been a year since the
death of historian Howard Zinn. Commemorate the anniversary of his
passing with local activists from the campus and the community with
a live staged reading of "The People Speak." Using dramatic and
musical performances of the letters, diaries and speeches of
everyday Americans, THE PEOPLE SPEAK gives voice to those who spoke
up for social change throughout U.S. history, and insisted on
equality and justice. Based on Zinn’s best-selling books, A People’s
History of the United States and Voices of a People’s History of the
United States, THE PEOPLE SPEAK illustrates the relevance of these
historical moments to our society today and reminds us never to take
liberty for granted. (Admission charge.)
