<p class="MsoNormal">I agree with Noah that a wall is a powerful statement. If a small
temporary wall on the university campus is (quote) "accusing Israel of committing
humanitarian crimes" (unquote), then what statement does Israel’s real wall have? Israel’s
wall is huge, it is within the West Bank with some of the Palestinian territory
actually intentionally on Israel’s side, is about 700 kilometres long (430 mi),
is 26 feet tall in places, and made out of concrete.<span style> </span>Permanent walls say a whole lot more. A
small temporary wall is a good way to demonstrate what the United States
foreign policies allow Israel to build. </p>

What does that mean? During the main part of the week there will be a large wall on the Quad that wrongfully accuses Israel of committing humanitarian crimes. Basically some students will try to demonize the state of Israel and make students on campus uncertain about their relation to it. </span></div>

We think that promoting hate against one side is counter-productive to the peace talks that are currently taking place between Israel and the Palestinians under the leadership of Secretary of State, John Kerry. Our goal is to promote a positive message at Illinois that supports the peace process and the two-state solution. I urge you to exercise restraint by not engaging in any confrontations with the people organizing the Apartheid Week and the Wall.</div>
