In doing so we both make a commitment to take self-responsibility, and also make a commitment to follow the leadership of Black-led organizations, knowing that those most affected by harm are those whose voices must be at the forefront of any response to it.</font></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.78667;margin-top:11pt;margin-bottom:11pt"><span style="font-size:16px;color:rgb(0,0,0);vertical-align:baseline"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Therefore, we hereby reiterate our belief that, regardless of how purposefully or unintentionally these inequities are perpetuated, direct and intentional action on the part of anti-racist white people will be required in order for Black lives to be fully valued in our community. CU SURJ is the Champaign Urbana chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice. Chapters commit to actively building a base in White communities to advance racial justice movement-building efforts. This may includes multiracial groups.<br>

SURJ is a national network of groups and individuals organizing White people for racial justice. Through community organizing, mobilizing, and education, SURJ moves White people to act as part of a multi-racial majority for justice with passion and accountability. We work to connect people across the country while supporting and collaborating with local and national racial justice organizing efforts. SURJ provides a space to build relationships, skills and political analysis to act for change.<br>
