I know I got through to only a few people who were sympathetic but couldn’t help me. I am still waiting to hear from two other wildlife biologists at reserves. One other place, a large Audubon Society waterfowl refuge in southern IL hopefully will call back tomorrow. This is where we are. He said short of the Governor or IDNR Director overruling this, it wouldn’t be allowable in Illinois. Ben also reported that his counterparts in Indiana reached out to him but that a relocation there similarly wouldn’t be allowable unfortunately. I wish I had more encouraging news for you. If I understand correctly Ben Williams is saying that the IDNR, as a state agency, has ruled that you cannot capture and move geese. But the Federal Migratory Act requires protection of these birds and allows movement of them.
