Hello Radical Cheerleaders--

I have talked to some of you about cheering at this Slam-Jam/Romp-Stomp
event next Saturday at the IMC at 7 PM. I hope that you are still able to
make it! Here is the information from Susan Davis, one of the organizers,
about what they would like to see you all doing...

let me know if you have any questions and if anyone can do this gig.

Thanks!
Suzanne Linder

hi Suzanne,

I'm sorry to have been slow about this. We have (at least) the two main
poets -- Murray and Jess -- both of whom work in an antiwar and justice
vein. It's likely that their poems will be a mix of somber and
humorous. I don't know how to describe Darren's music except that it is
loud, driving and lively -- cheerful actually.

What we're hoping the cheerleaders would do -- and we will plan a little
bit with them ahead of time is cheer, or lead cheers with the audience --
in transitional moments. Between poets, between readers, before music. If
you can show them the flyer -- or the description of the event -- several
authority seen it -- they can begin to plan. What I would recommend the do
is write or recycle six to eight cheers that they marry have -- with the
emphasis on funny/angry -- remembering that the event is about the IMC and
supporting it and supporting books to prisoners. I recommend that they
have a bunch of c cheers in their pocket, so to speak, have rehearse them,
and be ready to zip them in as needed. If they can rehearse a few sometime
this weekend we can meet with them next weekto talk about what the rhythm
of the event feels like. Obviously we wouldn't have invited them if it
wasn't supposed to be informal, lively, and fun. They should think about
costumes, to, if they want.

Please excuse my voice recognition software -- I will copy this to
Cordelia. Thanks, Susan. At 07:55 AM 1/20/2006, you wrote:
