Birthmark is the solo project of Chicago-based musician and composer
Nate Kinsella (Joan of Arc, Make Believe, Owen). Nate wrote and
recorded the second Birthmark album over a 3-year period. The result
is Shaking Hands, named after a Birthmark song that didn't make it
onto the album. Names dropped include Arthur Russell, Radionhead,
Animal Collective and Led Zeppelin. The Onion AV Club: "Birthmark,
Nate's psychedelic solo project since 2006, has the kind of off-kilter
pop effervescence that's a staple of the Kinsella family songbook."
