* Award winning Indie-folk fusion artist *Ash Devine from Asheville, NC will
appear at Red Herring Café in Urbana on Saturday May 21st at 8pm

AND at Aroma Café in Champagne on Thursday May 27th at 7pm.

The Award winning Asheville, NC Based Songwriter, Multi-instrumentalist and
Clown Ash Devine announces visit to Champagne-Urbana as part of her CD
release tour 2010, and her participation as an ensemble member in the Change
of State Performance Project World Premiere of:  “Aquatown- A Future
Hydro-history”.

Ash’s new album “Bird Must Fly” was released in January 2010. The
self-produced album is a compilation of original songs with musical style
under the influence of folk-rock, jazz, blues and Appalachian
traditional.  Fans
have described Ash Devine's music as a “Breath of fresh air”, referring to
the unique combination of her ukulele, guitar, vocals and poetic lyrics.

Ash has a degree in Theater and Community Arts from UNC Asheville. After
studying with the Geshundheit! Institue and Patch Adams, she now
tours nursing homes and other community settings to facilitate
participatory music and clowning workshops. She hopes to travel next year in
an "educational clown tour" with other grassroots artists to combine
musical and collaborative performance with educational community outreach

Ash Devine Biography

 With a reputation for fresh sound and a growing repertoire of songs, Ash
Devine is Asheville, NC's favorite songwriter. The folk-fusion style
combines sounds of Appalachian traditional, blues, jazz and world music
infused with original craft.

 Ash began her career as a young teenager in Blacksburg, VA. After 10 years
of performing as a singer-songwriter, Ash graduated with a B.A. in Theater
Arts from UNC Asheville. During her last year of college, Ash Studied with
MD Patch Adams and participated in Humanitarian Clowning internationally.
Ash’s stage presence as a lead vocalist and guitarist is comedic and serious
at the same time, with occasional audience participation and heart gripping
songs. Her music speaks to people, society, nature and the poetry in
between. *Ash Devine’s *performances have been described as a "variety show
that calls for action".

*Ash began working as a Caring Clown in 2007 with Patch Adams and the
Gehundheit! Institute. In 2008, Ash Co-founded a community service club
designed to introduce college students to nursing home clowning.
International
clowning experience inspired Ash, and she expanded her work as a musical
performer to include comedy, audience interaction and community outreach
projects.*

 Ash Devine now provides song Work-shops, sing along circles, art workshops,
and drama-therapy workshops for nursing homes, medical facilities, youth
groups, educational programs, private events and a variety of other
settings.
