I really do not understand the system of e-mail lists at all. Where can I easily go to be reminded of what all the many lists are, and the purpose of each?

Noel,
I'm OK either way about which list to send missed show notices to. The
thing is that if everyone missing shows actually sent proper notice,
it's going to overwhelm the general discussion list and there will be
even fewer people subscribed to it than currently. The most important
things is to send them consistently to one place.
My idea about using the Membership list for the missed meeting notices
is so that they are concentrated on the relevant list. With automation,
there is no dead air. The problem is that unless we get this fixed,
there will be NO air for anyone soon!
As for any specific show missing a few times, I'm much more worried
about the overall trend than individual performance. And I certainly
don't want to fault Janice, as she is doing her best with the mess that
the station membership as a whole is handing her. We should try to
concentrate on getting a plan to fix the entire issue, rather than what
any individual show is doing or not doing.
I suspect that your 6 is due to sending a miss notice that covered
multiple weeks over the break. But you should have gotten credit for at
least one miss, so maybe we're not looking everywhere the messages were
logged. We should remember that the best place to track these is at the
list archives, either:
http://lists.chambana.net/cgi-bin/private/rfu/
or
http://lists.chambana.net/mailman/archive/rfu-membership/
I do know that I delete any miss notices sent to RFU-station. That just
is not a good list to use or we'll have trouble keeping people on it. I
don't think it's a burden to ask those wanting to fill miss shows,
either the gen discussion list or memmbership to look someplace special.
