WRFU GMM Notes April 3, 2007

Intros – signup sheet was circulated

FCC Rules – Bad words before 10pm, drinking of alcohol in the studio, BIG FCC No-Nos, also, sign the log correctly _every_ time
Smoking Is Prohibited in the Studio – by local law, by station policy, by common courtesy for everyone else

Training may be an issue with both of these problems, but YOU are responsible for keeping it legal
Mike L. is responsible for -- the time being – for making sure that that WRFU is in FCC compliance, send him a _private email_  (or via an aliased email Dan B. will set up) if you have any concerns about possible violations of FCC rules on content or station policy
Membership will eventually propose a station policy, but in the meantime Mike will handle these issues on a case by case basis 

Request to Cancel Radio Bilingue, One Day _only_ Wednesday, April 4 – Ray will do a special interview, not a precedent for pre-emption

Headphone Rack – Do you have or can build something that will hold headphones for the studio? Please bring it in.

Internet Licensing – Mike will forward the email to Dan B. and Ray who will look into it, still need to resolve our internet streaming licensing. 

PSAs – Noel now has a system where public service announcements can be posted easily and then the old PSAs will be archived, a link on the studio computer desktop will take you to the written PSA, this will replace clumsy old card in box system, public will have a link to automation from the website, the automation will edit and post the PSAs to the website for you to read at your leisure

Tower Mailing – almost ready, Marisa and Mike need to finalize text and send to list, so Noel can turn it into a PSA, others may want to produce a recorded PSA? After Mike gets things together, he will organize a working meeting to stuff and mail the fundraising letter. Any other ideas for fundraising? Dan is setting up an electronic music fundraiser. Mike will have actual balance for our IMC account soon.

That Summer Vacation Thing – Ray suggests that a call be issued for those who will leave and return in fall to let us know, otherwise shows who miss will have show time slot reassigned permanently, idea needs work, someone to write a policy proposal??? 

Membership, Programming and Training – will address summer, training, logs, etc, regular meeting the Sunday before each General RFU meeting at 5pm (thus, next meeting, Sunday, April 15 at 5pm), look for training info soon on the website, but you can show up for the Membership meeting if you want to get involved in training, Membership will be the only people who can designate official trainers, retraining will be available, will be revising the process for getting a show so that people are more involved in making a commitment to participate in the station as they get trained, REMEMBER to sign your logs properly!

Tech Stuff
WiFi in-studio is working now – should have strong signal for your laptop
Streaming is having some problems for listeners, Dan may put a link on website for users to report problems to Tech

In the Studio, on the Board, >>> Program 1, Program 2 <<< – you must have _both_ buttons down, or else your show won’t get sent to the streaming and won’t get recorded, since Program 2 now feeds the streaming server

Dan is working on an updated audio path plan to hang in the studio for reference
PLEASE do not mess with wiring or computers in the studio, send an email to Tech
The studio general use computer is getting locked down, because people were loading bad stuff, you can still do what you need to do on the WRFU general user login, if you have any concerns about this send them to RFU-tech
There are both line in and line out jacks available from the board (so no need to be digging into the wiring), as well as rockin’ new monitors

RFU-station list – let Mike know if you have any issues
Lock Change – Mike will do when he gets time to do it, otherwise he can help others who want to do it organize it

Quad Day Tuesday, August 21, 2007 – Ray will be broadcasting live again, need to get registered, if interested in helping with this excellent outreach opportunity, let Ray know

Production Room Equipment and Issues – Dan will be working on audio gear, give him input, as he will be working on proposal to make needed upgrades, all RFU members are welcome to use IMC production room, but it needs some TLC before its working well again
