Please note that this is a duplicate fo the earlier sending of minutes.
I am resending the minutes son that all working groups now subscribed to
the RFU-station list have them. In the future, I think sending the
minutes to this list only, in addition to ccing them to the main IMC
list, will suffice. Let me know what you think.

RFU GMM Notes March 6, 2007

Intros – about 16 attending, signup sheet sent around

Group Reports
Fundraising Letter - for the permanent tower, ready to go thanks to Marisa’s work and will be printed and sent about 3 weeks after the IMC membership renewals go out (mid-April), bulk mail permit will make it cheaper; we have $2,000 in matching funds already

Scheduling –

New Shows
Word and Song, 8-10am dues and training done, OK
Dedicated to the Mokey, ? [wants Tuesday at 10-midnite], needs dues and training
Chilled Beats – 10-midnite, dues and training done, OK

Old Show Not on Schedule
11th Indian, fixed, lost survey

Tech
For Mic 2, make sure that grey button is up if it seems not to be working

Internet Rights? We’re not a “qualified CPB station” maybe Dan knows more, if this can be fixed? We already paid for this year, but would be cool to have next year if we qualify

PTFP $ for 50% match for equipment, Ken thinks tower would rate as high priority according to criteria, Janice says there is a April 6 deadline for this year’s cycle, Mike offered to help but can’t lead this, suggests there is a lot less paperwork in just raising the $$ ourselves

PSA Process – Automation can only do pre-produced audio PSAs, so text ones have been getting ignored a lot, Gary in Automation will set-up online Google Docs to replace the little used PSA card box in studio, current PSAs will be available via a desktop shortcut on the studio computer, DJs will be able to check the PSAs by clicking on it, people will be directed to submit text, PSAs via a website form, Noel and others will help, maybe look for policies in effect elsewhere about PSAs, reminder that PSAs need to be noncommercial in nature and observe issues re electoral equity

RFU-Station/Email List/Lock Change – Thanks to Ken for compiling the survey forms into a spreadsheet, Mike will take email addresses and start up the RFU-station email list, which all programming groups MUST be subscribed to. You will be receiving the email announcing this soon. Then there will be a week or so notice of the beginning of the studio lock combination change period, contact info in case someone fell thru the holes in the survey will direct those without the new combination to contact Mike, be sure and pass along the important station info that will be on the low-traffic RFU-station list to other members of your programming group who are not on it, or they might miss the lock change

Twin Towers Fundraiser with Radio Lenca – we hoped it broke even, maybe raised a little money, around 60 attending, great entertainment!

A Reminder for those who want to help Ken with Membership and show scheduling, get signed up on the RFU-membership list, send email to kurban at parkland.edu

Ray reminds that we need to discuss a summer show policy, it is suggested that someone make a proposal before the next meeting via email and we act on it prior to May

March 20 meeting (corrected from incorrect date of March 19 I sent in an earlier message) _canceled_ due to Spring Break, NEXT RFU general membership meeting is April 3!!!

Ragged notes by Mike L., send corrections to me at rebelmike at earthlink.net
