  General Meeting Notes:

  Tech Update
  Joe Futrelle
We have received a donation for studio equipment. A wish list has been written. It looks like we will have funds to cover most of it (except the requests for a new tower, and a new board). Joe will gather actual prices and let us know. When these items are purchased, we need an active Tech group to organize, install, and maintain them. Randy Hawkins has volunteered to help make a back for the board and do some other work with installations. He would like others to work with to form a Tech group.
There is a separate fund for news equipment, but there is no news group, so the funds cannot be used at this time. However, we do not need to use this grant money for a portable recording device; we can use the news fund for that if the station had a group that was doing a news program.
  Membership Update
We need a certain number of live hours on the radio to be in compliance with our license. Right now if another station wanted our bandwidth they could take it over. The FCC is trying to write in protections for low power stations so this cannot happen so easily. We need to be showing that we are providing locally produced radio programs at least 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. We don’t. Some days we barely have that scheduled, some days we don’t. Tues, Thurs, and Saturdays are very short. Of course, every show will have some weeks when it cannot air, but the more notice you can give the more likely it is, that someone else can go in and be on the air. Another option, is to prerecord your show, and use Zara Radio to air it. Randy and Lavana are learning how to do this, so that they can help if someone needs to do this.
The log is the record that we have to show the FCC the live locally produced programming that we have been airing. We do not have a record of the following shows signing the log consistently since January.
  Habari Connection (Sunday slot)
The 4:00 spot (both Tues and Thurs slots)
  Back in the Day
  Two open time slots.
Sexy Geek Speak Sunday 6-8 PM this time slot is now open
Sunday Night Sound System Sunday 8-10 PM this time slot is now open
Fliers are prepared for the Everybody Has a Voice and Kids on the Radio programs. Suggestions were made of some organizations to contact.
Don Moyer Boys and Girls club
  Urbana League
The Membership and Training Group would like to form a Training Team to take care of training new members, and have all of the training done by this team. We know that there are several members who are very good trainers now, and we would like to help coordinate the efforts. Any members, who help with training, it would be helpful if you could contact the Membership and Training Group if you would like to work on this team.
  Fundraising Points:
  Farmer’s Market
A decision was made to sign up for the beginning of the summer, every other week. We will sign up for 5 weeks. A sign up sheet was passed around for those who would like to help. Andrew kept the list.
No responses yet in the pledge drive. The plan was that if we received a few pledges from within our ranks, we could then expand this effort to the IMC, and then the community.
One show may have received an underwriter.
We would like to combine the Electronics Sale this year with another event – perhaps a live music event. A suggestion was made to conduct it as a silent auction.
Suggestions of music groups that might be interested in playing for a fundraiser would be appreciated.
Andrew will speak with Nick Pelafas about the possibility of arranging a music fundraising event in May.
  Other Matters
We may have the use of an intern during May, June and July. The intern has experience in Marketing, so we would like to think of good tasks for them to do. Possibly they could work with some internal marketing. Marketing participating in the different working groups to the membership.
The Production Room is being reorganized. We need to find a new place for the file cabinets, EAS computer printer, and Automation Computer. Using the corner between the double doors and production room was suggested. This space could have a rack built into it, be walled off, and have a door with a lock.
At the May Saturday meeting we would like to have a get together for members to socialize. We will have a small potluck and a sound system set up to take turns being the dj.
