    Howdy Concerned Citizens!

Today is Illinois Arbor & Bird Day. Celebrate!

    IPCUTSOT Representative in Springfield
Our attorney John MacMahon was invited to
observe the latest meeting held yesterday in Rep.
Rutherford's office in Springfield. For several months,
all of the ICC-recognized intervenors except
ICUTSOT have been meeting in Rutherford's
office to discuss the issue raised by the IP
tariff. This includes several power companies,
the Citizens Utility Board, and various municipalities,
    such as Bloomington and Normal.

Unhappy with Illinois Power? Tell the ICC.
File a complaint! The Consumer Services Division
of the ICC serves Illinois citizens by assisting
consumers in resolving complaints and answering
    consumer questions about regulated utilities.
Here's the link to file a complaint online:
    http://www.icc.state.il.us/icc/consumer/contact.asp
The toll-free number is 1-800-524-0795. Put your
    tax dollars to work!

Frustrated with Illinois Power? Tell CUB.
The Illinois Legislature formed the Citizens Utility Board
(CUB) in 1983 to serve as a voice for residential and
small-business utility ratepayers. CUB is a nonpartisan,
nonprofit statewide organization funded by Illinois consumers
and a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Trust.
Though created by the state, CUB receives no state tax dollars.
CUB's Consumer Hotline is 1-800-669-5556. Or you can file
a complaint online at www.cuboard.org and CUB will respond
in 7 to 10 business days.

    New Tariff or State Statute?
HB 1776 has been assigned to the executive committee and
has been scheduled for a Senate Hearing on Wed. May 2.
Senator Weaver of Urbana is the sponsor. Will this bill pass?
Will there be a new tariff? Lots of questions, no clear answers.

Next Meeting Set for May 5
Our next informational meeting is scheduled for Saturday
May 5 at 10 a.m. at Heartland Community College on
Raab Road in ICB 1103. Enter from parking lot "D" and
follow the signs. Our agenda includes an update on HB 1776,
the Springfield meetings, the question of easements,
    heritage tree ordinances, and more...

    Petition Drive Continues
We have collected 100s of signatures from concerned
citizens like yourselves. Please continue to circulate petitions.

    lhuth at prairienet.org for directions.

    Buttons, Brochures, and Ribbons

Earth Day celebrations, and at the Ecology Action Center.
