I live on the 300 block of south elm St. in champaign (old town). are they allowed to be so vague about the date they will show up? is there any way to block them? what is there jurisdiction once they arrive? what advice would you give me (Im going to document b4 with photos)? my neighbor has a dead tree which he was going to have IP cut down, will givving them the right to cut down that tree give them "free reign" ? any advice would be much appreciated, john martirano From antje at uiuc.edu Thu Jun 7 15:17:55 2001 From: antje at uiuc.edu (Antje H. The people who do the cutting usually are butchers as you know so don't just let it go their way. We realize we haven't had many meetings since Illinois Power withdrew its Vegetation Management Tariff from the Illinois Commerce Commission. This e-mail is to inform you about what is happening with our group while we wait for IP?s next move. There will be a general meeting on Wednesday, June 27. at 7:30 P. M. John McMahon has graciously said that we may meet at his office at 8 east Main St., Champaign (across from the News Gazette Building), since the library is not available at this short notice. We will give an update of what has happened in the last couple of months, and we will be making decisions about the future of this organization, it?s leadership, and what role we may wish to take when Illinois Power submits a new tariff. Next we would like to invite all of you to participate in the Champaign County Freedom Celebration Parade on the 4th of July. We will have an 18-foot flatbed trailer for those who would like to participate, but would not care to walk. Please invite your friends and family who would like to be a part of our entry in the parade. Please RSVP the number of people if you?ll be joining us, so that we will know that we have enough to make a good entry ? but if you decide to come at the last minute, don?t let the lack of RSVP hold you back! We need volunteers to help us decorate the trailer, so please let us know if you can help. The theme of this year's parade is "A Celebration of American Parks and Recreation." Help show your support for saving our urban forests and parks by being a part of the 4th of July Parade! To participate in the parade, please wear green shirts and khaki pants or shorts, and/or your Save Our Trees buttons in order to give our group a unified appearance. Participants will be asked to be at the parade starting point at Lincoln and Illinois Street between 12:00 (noon) and 12:45 p.m. If you have any questions, would like to participate in decorating the trailer, contact Kyra Shair at 356-1265 (email: kshair@advancenet.net) or Mary Schlembach at 359-9155 (email: schlemba@uiuc.edu) for more information. I hope to see many of you at this important general meeting, and let?s have a big turn out for the fourth of July! We should be very proud of our efforts thus far -- IP withdrew the tariff, which was our initial goal! See you on the 27th!
