Tree Advocates:
There will be a general meeting for all those interested in being involved
in the Save Our Trees Campaign
Thursday( Tomorrow) March 29th, 7:30pm
Urbana Civic Center
The following items will be covered:
Review of the ICC public meeting
Celebrate IP's withdrawal of the tariff
Overview the status of the campaign
Modify our campaign focus
Also, I want to take this opportunity to ask for help on the following
items:
MEDIA ATTENTION
In the past week we have been getting news coverage that is perhaps giving
the public the wrong message- that IP withdrew the tariff, and that the Save
our Trees campaign is over. We need to get as many Letters to the Editor and
other articles letting people know that we need to keep up the momentum and
a more than watchful eye on IP's next moves. We need to make sure that the
new tariff that IP drafts is in the interest of the citizens, and most
importantly , we need to make sure that IP knows that we are still active!
WE NEED FUNDRAISERS!
Our fundrasing committee is greatly understaffed.
If you can step up to a chair position, or just want to help out selling
buttons and ribbons, please reply back to me, call 384-0830 or come to
tomorrow's general meeting.
WE NEED SIGNATURES ON OUR AFFADAVITS!
Even though the hearings are postponed for now, we still need signatures to
show support for the IP Customers United to Save our Trees. Thanks to all
those who contacted me about setting up tables at supermarkets. We are still
waiting for permission to do so! If you would like to get signatures at your
office or in your neighborhood, you can print an affadavit out from our
website (www.saveiltrees.org) or, you can come to tommorrow's meeting and
get a hard copy. You do not necessarily need to be in IP service =district
in order to sign a petition. Just have the non-customer put an asterick next
to their name.
For those who already have signatures or donations and need to know where to
send them to:
Save Our Trees
110 South Race Street Suite 205
Urbana, IL 61801
Thank You all and see you tomorrow!
