VIP: Senior Citizens Nursing Homes this week! and Fwd: New Volunteer Opportunity

Happy Monday everyone!

We had a great turn out last Thursday evening for volunteers, so hopefully
we can do the same for Monday and Thursday this week!

Monday (Fun and Games Night) at Champaign County Nursing Home from
6:45p-7:45p.
*Be at Circle Drive by 6:25p and look for Katie, Dani, or Peter in a silver
van!*

Again, NO more Tuesdays as of right now, but I will keep you all posted if
another opportunity arrives.

Thursday (Bingo!) at Prairie Winds Assisted Living from 6:30p-7:30p.
*Be at Circle Drive by 6:10p and look for Kirsten, or Luis in a silver van!*

Hey Diana,

My name is Chloe Richter, and I'm a coordinator with VIP Daycare.  A cool
volunteer opportunity came up with senior citizens and I thought I'd pass
along the info.

Another group I'm in wanted to become penpals with 5 senior citizens at the
Illini Heritage Rehab and Health Center in Urbana.  The woman was absolutely
thrilled to hear this because they had never done anything like this for
their residents.  However, my group is somewhat falling apart due to lack of
attendance.  I don't want to keep the residents waiting for letters that
will never come, and I feel so bad!  If VIP Senior Citizens members or any
other organization you know of would be interested, let me know!
 Letters/cards could be sent however often you would like, even just once a
month.  It might be a chill way for students with busy schedules to make a
difference, since they could write at their convenience and wouldn't have to
travel anywhere. Let me know what you think!
