Hi Volunteers!

  Here are some more of our upcoming events.  If there is anything you would

like to volunteer at in the subject line.

*Westview Fun Fest: Friday February 29th  from 5:30-8:30pm*
  Assist the Westview Elementary School running games for their elementary
school carnival. *Volunteer Coordination for this event may** be canceled if
there is not enough interest shown*

*Holy Cross Boy Scout Troop; Merit Badge Seminar:  March 1rst from 7:30am
-5:30pm (can work a half day shift rather than the entire time)*
Volunteers will assist with a variety of tasks, but mostly they will help
the instructors in the various classrooms (electronics, astronomy, criminal
justice, engineering, etc.) They will help keep the boys on task, assist
with group projects or demonstrations and offer general assistance to the
instructors. *This event is really in need of** volunteers*

*Natural Areas Restoration: Saturday March 1rst from 9am-noon*
   Help care for Allerton Park's wild side. Volunteers may be removing
honeysuckle or garlic mustard, clearing and marking rails, or some other
maintenance of the natural areas.

*Fill Eggs for Nite Lite Egg Pursuit – March 4th from 4:00pm*
  Help the Champaign park District prepare for the Nite Lite Egg
Pursuit.  *This
event needs a lot of volunteers, so it would work well** for a large group.*

*Fill Eggs for 18th Annual Eggstravaganza –March 6th from 4:00pm*
  Help the Champaign Park District prepare for the 18th AnnualEggstravaganza
*This event needs a lot of volunteers, so it would work well** for a large
group.

*Special Olympics Polar Plunge at Lake of the Woods in Mahomet, March 8th :
Registration begins at 11am, the plunge takes place at noon and the post
plunge party begins at 1pm.*
      Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity to support Special
Olympicsathletes by taking a flying leap – a leap into the frigid
waters of anIllinois lake. Plungers and day of the event volunteers
are needed.
You can find a more detailed description of the event at www.soill.org *There
is no limit on the number of plungers who can participate so this event
would work for a larger group.*

*Bingo : Monday March 17th 5:00-8:00pm*
   Come join us at C-U Special Recreation  and help our participants play
Bingo. Call the numbers, help participants keep their cards marked
correctly, help pass out prizes, have fun! Includes a onetime volunteer
training/orientation prior to the event.

*Nite Lite Egg Pursuit – March 21 from 5:00-8:45pm*
  Come relive your childhood at this adults-only egg hunt. Volunteers are
needed to check people in, hide the eggs, guard egg hunt areas, and give out
prizes. *Special Projects Volunteer Coordination for this event may** be
canceled if there is not enough interest shown*

*18th Annual Eggstravaganza – March 22 from 8:00am-noon*
  Help the children of Champaign search for eggs at Douglass Park. We need
volunteers to help set up the event, hide eggs, and assist with supervising
the kids.* Special Projects Volunteer Coordination for this event may** be
canceled if there is not enough interest shown*

*Lunch with Mr. Cottontail – March 22 from 11:00am-3:00pm*
  What more could any child want after a big egg hunt than lunch with the
bunny himself? Help needed setting up and running games and activities in
the Douglass Center. *Special Projects Volunteer Coordination for this event
may** be canceled if there is not enough interest shown*

*Boneyard Creek Community Cleanup - April 19th from 9am - noon*
Pitch in to help restore the beauty of the Boneyard Creek through Champaign,
Urbana and Campustown by volunteering for organized activities to
clean up,mark storm drains and naturalize the Boneyard Creek.
* This event needs a lot of volunteers, so it would work well** for a large
group.

Also, Soojae the director for Senior Citizens is always looking for more
interested volunteers.  She usually has an event almost every day of the
week, so if anyone is interested you can contact her at : *slee72 at uiuc.edu*
