Greeting, Art Lovers in Champaign Urbana.

Below is a list of the fall schedule of workshops by various teachers along 
with classes that I teach, that will be taking place at my studio at High 
Cross Road in Urbana this fall.

Currently my work is being shown at Spring Street Gallery, Galena; The News 
Gazette Building in Champaign and at my studio. My show at Springer Cultural 
Center opens on Sept. 22.

***  Artist: Career Day with Janet Bloch
$150
A workshop for the advanced artist who has built up their resume and is 
ready to pursue solo shows and/or gallery representation.
Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 10am - 4pm.
Please register early. Contact for availability as this is for only 4 
participants.

***  Artist: Exhibiting Professionalism with Janet Bloch
$45
The workshop will dispel some of the mysteries of how to submit materials 
for exhibitions and to galleries. Dramatically increase your chance of 
getting accepted into shows and getting your artwork seen. The workshop will 
cover: slide quality, slide labeling, building your resume, artist 
statement, professionalism, and pricing of your work.
Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, Noon - 3pm, Limited to 15 participants. Please 
register early.

***  Artist: Private consultation with Janet Bloch
Take advantage of the experience of Janet Bloch to review your work and help 
guide you to the next step in your career.  Janet Bloch holds a Master of 
Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Ms. Bloch served 
as the Gallery Director of Woman Made Gallery in Chicago from 1993 to 2000. 
She is the recipient of numerous grants including an Illinois Arts Council 
Visual Artists Fellowship and an NEA Regional/ Midwest Fellowship. A three 
time grantee of the Community Artists Assistance Program from the Chicago 
Dept. of Cultural Affairs, she also has extensive experience giving 
professional workshops for artists interested in exhibiting their work.

***  Drawing in Color Pencils with Gil Rocha  (Next weekend!!)
$120 for full day workshop
Artist and instructor Gil Rocha will share his 25 years of experience 
drawing with color pencils in a six-hour hands on workshop. As a beginners 
course workshop instruction will cover various types of color pencils and 
their properties, application techniques, color mixing, value manipulation 
and drawing surfaces.
Aug. 14, 2004, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00m pm /Lunch /1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

***  Doll Making with Jana Ueble
$75
Found Object Doll Making
Fantastic creatures can spring to life from the most mundane objects. 
Participants in the class will learn basic armature, forms, and joints to 
make a doll from "found objects".
5 weeks, Mondays from 6 to 8 pm – Aug 9 to Sept. 15 --  5 weeks


***  Portrait, Still Life, and Landscape Painting (en plein air) with Joy 
Thomas
$385 Week long – Monday through Friday workshop
October 25 – 29,  8:30am to 5pm

An intensive five day workshop with a renowned oil painter. This is for 
intermediate to advanced oil painters.
“Each day will be filled with instruction and lots of fun. If you haven’t 
worked with Joy Thomas before, you are in for a real treat. She is the most 
energetic, communicative and delightful instructor you could possibly 
imagine. Plan to come like a sponge, ready to soak up her expertise.”

***  Art With Intention with Sandra Ahten
This class is not group-taught, but individually directed to each of the 
students. It is an opportunity for adults to explore their creative voices. 
Individualized projects will be based on the student's desire to learn new 
media; gain skill in a practice such as drawing, watercolor or oil painting; 
or explore a theme, etc. Exploratory materials provided. Special instruction 
in oil painting, drawing, and collage. Limited enrollment. Individual 
instruction.
Thursdays for 2 consecutive hours each, drop-in time between 3-9 pm. Cost: 
$95 for 5 (2-hour) sessions in 6 weeks .

***  Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain with Sandra Ahten
For those who have always wanted to learn to draw but didn’t feel that they 
had the talent or confidence. This class will teach you that drawing is 
really just a new way of seeing.
August 26 – Sept 23; Thursdays 7-9pm
$95 for 5 sessions


Payment is required in advance unless other arrangements are made. Checks
