Hey everybody (everybody associated with bikes that is),

There is some fun stuff coming up, and some opportunities to get your hands
dirty too. If you're feeling confused, here is some information to help
orient you - You've just started reading The Bike Project email newsletter.
Its addictive, I know. First you think, "Hmm... riding this bicycle is a
neat way to get around and have fun." Before you know it you're slaving
away over someone else's rig trying to figure out why the back brake is
sticking. But back to the newsletter...

This weekend starts the festivities.

1) *The official unveiling of TBP Saturday Hours* - These volunteer staffed
hours are from 2-5PM (the same as Sunday so as not to confuse anyone) and
will help spread out the bike maintenance tutoring. The Saturday volunteers
include: Mike, Sam, Tim, Erik, Greg & Lisa. Much thanks for picking up
these hours!

2) *Sunday, September 28th - The First Annual Lincoln Circuit Ride*,
celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Lincoln's birth. Registration from
7-10AM at the Cattle Bank (First and University). Rides from 22 to 90
miles. Only $10 to ride ($15 day of). Riders and volunteers are needed.
If you can volunteer, here's a "wiki" to sign up -
http://lincolncircuitride.pbwiki.com/#pbedit, or you could contact Sue Jones
(Lincolnbikeride at gmail.com). Tell your friends!

3) *Sunday, September 28th - The Bike Project General Meeting @ 5PM at the
co-op.* Food will be provided. You'll be nominating / voting on the
members of the Steering Committee. No reason to attend really, unless you
want to have a say in how the co-op is run in the future (oh yeah, and there
will be food).

4) *Pickup next (maybe last) batch of donated bikes from the University,
Friday, October 3rd*, from *11AM-3PM* at the dead end of S. Wright Street
(not the Wright Street you're familiar with - the one in the South Farms off
of St. Mary's Road). We need your warm bodies to help us pickup, move,
and 'tag in' a load of donated bike from the University of Illinois (Thanks
UofI!). Dinner will be available after the pickup at the co-op. Those not
able to attend during the day on Friday are welcome to join for some pizza
and tag/organize the bikes Friday evening. *Pizza is roughly scheduled for
5PM on Friday*. *Saturday from 10-2PM* will also be slated as a "work day"
to help organize the shop, maybe fix up some of the easy ones, and get
things ready for Saturday hours. If you are coming, *please RSVP* to Tony
Cherolis (acherolis at gmail.com, 860-204-2704) especially if you are planning
on having some pizza on Friday evening.

5) *Walk and Bike to School Day, *Wednesday October 8th - Volunteers
needed. Contact Cynthia Hoyle for more information - choyle at cumtd.com.

Will see you around. Ride on, good riders.

Tony
