[Bikecoop-announce] Bike Shipping Party!

All,

Join us Friday November 4th at 10am for a big event loading old, unwanted
bikes in a shipping container bound for Tanzania!

We will meet at the bike warehouse at 192 S. Wright Street ext., Champaign,
IL 61820.

A little about the organizations efforts we will be helping:

"Many students near Tarangire National Park in northeastern Tanzania walk
long distances to attend Gijedabung and Mwikantsi Primary Schools. Even
more challenging still for graduating students is the journey to secondary
school, a difficult walk of over 10 kilometers on hot, dusty roads. By

providing these students with bicycles, the time to get to and from school
is reduced significantly. This leads to higher enrollment and attendance
rates, higher graduation rates, and increased safety for the students
making the trip.



In addition to positively impacting the lives of students and their
educational achievements, bikes in the hands of Tanzanian health care
workers allow them to reach more patients and help them carry out campaigns
to educate about and test for HIV in the region."

There will be pizza provided at lunch time!
