Greetings BTP'ers,
When the weather is as beautiful as it is today, it's hard to think about
going into the basement, but that's what we need to do.
Books to Prisoners has moved into our new room located in the basement of
the Urbana Post Office building and there is LOTS of work to be done. Many
people on this list are new to the group and have joined through the Jail
Library Project. I'd like to welcome you to our group and invite you to the
packathon this weekend.
Because of the move, we are extremely behind on filling requests from
inmates and we need a *huge* turnout this weekend to get back on-track.
Currently our priorities are answering the letters and shipping books to the
*40 inmates currently awaiting our response* as well as pulling the books to
be shelved at the jail libraries,

however there are many other tasks and you are welcome to help with any /
all of them (see below).
*Please let us know* if you can join us on Saturday at 3pm at the new IMC
building at 202 S. Broadway in Urbana; use the Elm St. entrance on the north
side of the building. There is a bike rack at the front of the building near
the north entrance to Lincoln Square and a bike loop available at the south
entrance to the basement. Free parking is available around the building.
 *Join us this Saturday to*:
* Meet the other people in our group
* Answer *40 pending letters* from inmates
* Discuss the next step in the Jail Library Project
* *Pull 1,000 books* for the Champaign County Jail libraries
* Sort and Shelve our recent donations (*15 boxes @ IMC and 25-30 still in
my garage!*)
* Arrange / Organize Work Surfaces (We need a few tables - *can you donate
an old card table*?)
* Get the two computers (donated by Prairienet - Thanks Matt!) set up and
working & test wifi in the room
