Hello!
I'm writing to let you know of a reading group I'm working with and to ask for specific book titles you might have and can donate. I'll send out these e-mails perhaps, three times a year to let you know what we are reading and titles we are looking for. If you do not want to receive these e-mails, please let me know! Thanks.

The group, is a reading group at Danville Correctional Center in Danville, IL. The reading group meets once a month and focuses on analysis of content, writing and discussion skills. We each read the book and produce written responses, which are then read at the monthly group meeting. The group
situation provides a positive focus and creative outlet for prisoners
with restricted options. The Reading Group is an opportunity for
prisoners to connect with the outside world, learn, and to feel a sense
of agency. We have read and had in-depth discussions on Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States, Cornel West's Race Matters, Upton Sinclair's The Jungle among other literary works of fiction and non-fiction.

Facilitators of the reading group are educators, students and activists committed to social justice issues through various projects that include teaching art to prisoners, Books to Prisoners, the Tamms Year Ten Campaign, and Prisoner’s Inventions, a book and art exhibition about things prisoners make to cope with being incarcerated. We are an
all-volunteer group donating our time and financial resources to this
project. Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you!
