Welcome to Common Ground Food Co-op's weekly (for now) e-newsletter! You're
getting this missive because you're a member of Common Ground who's also
signed up to be on the CGFC mailing list. If you aren't interested in
receiving these updates, please email lisabk at gmail.com.

Every week, via this transmission, members are provided with store
updates/news, links to relevant news items/political actions, and other bits
and pieces worthy of mention. If you have anything of a similar bent you
think members should know about, please email links to lisabk at gmail.com.
Thanks!

STORE/LOCAL NEWS:

****STORE HOURS
Just a heads up that the co-op closes tonight (that's Wednesday, 23 Nov) at
8 PM, as usual. CGFC will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on
Thursday, 24 Nov, and will be open noon-6 on Friday, 25 Nov. Weekend hours
will be same as always - noon-6 PM both days. Normal store hours will resume
next week.

****BOARD AVAILABILITY
You might not realize this, but your CGFC Board of Directors is quite
accessible to you. Right now, your Board meets every other Thursday at 5:30
PM in the GMR at the IDF. CGFC members are welcome to attend meetings; an
email announcing your attendance would be most appreciated. However, if a
member has a particular issue to take up with the board, it's best to first
email the Board with it and proceed from there rather than attend a meeting.
The board's email address is cgfc-bod at commongroundcoop.org.

****POS FAQ PACKET AVAIALBLE IN STORE
If you missed the GMM this past weekend, you can pick up a copy of the Point
Of Sale Frequently Asked Questions packet in the store. In it, you'll find
everything you ever wanted to know about the new software/hardware the co-op
is using at the cash register and also for member service purposes. You can
find it on the Media Table next to the freezer.

****STRATEGIC VISION PLANNING FINAL REPORT
The final report combining information from the committees regarding CGFC's
strategic planning process, which we went through this summer, is now
available! You can pick up a copy in the store or download it:

****DOCUMENTARIAN NEEDS YOU!
A UIUC student is looking for one willing customer to talk to her about
shopping at CGFC and maybe even accompany her on a food shopping excursion
to Wal-Mart! If you're interested, please email her at
elobrien at uiuc.edubefore the end of the weekend.

****FOOD INSECURITY
National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" is doing a series this week
on food insecurity in the US. The phrase "food insecure" means that a family
or individual experiences limited or uncertain availability of food, or
limited/uncertain availability of food in socially acceptable ways, and this
program is having a look at it in rural areas, urban areas, and suburbs.
